Our team is growing and we are currently looking for an Employment Training Specialist.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Employment Training Specialist will support individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury, dual diagnosed, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Autism, and other disabilities. The Employment Training Specialist will be responsible for assisting consumers in learning job tasks, maintaining their competitive employment skills and communication, promoting vocational and social independence and case management support related to community integration.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (essential functions)
- Train and supervise consumers with disabilities at community employment sites.
- Assist in planning and carry out of all vocational activities as assigned.
- Relay to all staff involved with the consumer any significant behavioral or functional changes.
- Complete daily case notes, time sheets and mileage sheets
- Promote integration and independence at job sites and in the community according to supported employment guidelines.
- Train consumers at specific job sites, utilizing appropriate teaching methodologies, task analysis, and job modification strategies.
- Attend staff meetings and agency training opportunities
- Ensure the safety of consumers served through ongoing monitoring and assessment and enforce safe work habits in all work sites.
- Maintain confidentially at all times.
- Driving between sites is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of different learning styles and ability to work with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Ability to function independently and demonstrate sound decision making.
- Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and implement problem solving strategies.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to effectively communicate with consumers, staff, and outside professionals.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree or
two years of related experience
- High School Diploma
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Access to a vehicle for work purposes, good driving record, and proof of insurance.
- No record of abuse/neglect, or any other offense that would bar you from working in the human service field.
- 18 years of age or older. Will need to complete a criminal background check, driver’s license check, and drug screen prior to employment. Background and driver’s license check will be completed annually thereafter. Random Drug screens required for reasonable suspicion, or if involved in a motor vehicle accident while performing job duties for Work Plus, Inc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, twist, lift, and push a minimum of 150 pounds.
- Must be able to assist with wheelchairs, walkers, gait belts, and other adaptive equipment with respect to consumer needs.
- Must be able to stand and walk on feet for four or more hours
- Must be able to work in extreme hot, cold and/or wet working conditions.
- Must be able to assist consumers with personal cares if needed.
- Due to the possibility of occupations exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. This position may be at risk for Hepatitis and HIV infection.
